November 01, 2022

Every year, many generous donors make year-end gifts to support Regent’s mission. We’re deeply grateful, and we want to make the donation process as simple as possible. The following guide can help you ensure your donation is received and receipted for the current tax year.

If you pay taxes in the United States, the United Kingdom, or Hong Kong, scroll down to find out how to benefit from charitable giving policies in your area.

Suggestions for Canadian Donors

The easiest way to make your 2023 gift is to donate online via Regent’s website. If you choose to send your gift by mail, please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that your gift is postmarked on or before December 31.

How to Get a 2022 Canadian Tax Receipt

Here’s what to do if you require a 2023 Canadian tax receipt for your gift.

1. Give online by credit card. Simply make your online donation before midnight (Pacific Time) on December 31 to ensure your gift is received in 2023.

2. Mail a cheque—and make sure it's postmarked in 2023. Per CRA rules, donations sent by mail must be postmarked no later than December 31 to receive a 2023 receipt. Please note:

  • Cheque gifts will be receipted based on the date of the postmark on the envelope—not the date on the cheque.
  • Simply placing your mail in a collection box does not guarantee that it will be postmarked that day. Where possible, the most effective way to ensure a same-day postmark is to visit a post office and ask that your mail be stamped immediately.

Note: We do not recommend mailing credit card information, as we cannot guarantee that payments will be processed in time to provide a 2023 receipt.

Suggestions for US Donors

US taxpayers can make a tax-deductible gift to Regent College Foundation USA. Due to the potential for postal delays, we recommend that US donors—especially those who wish to ensure their gifts will be eligible for 2023 receipts—make their year-end gifts online using the Foundation’s website.

If you're giving by cheque, make sure it's postmarked no later than December 31, 2023. Per IRS rules, donations sent by mail must be postmarked in 2023 to receive a 2023 receipt. Please note:

  • Cheque gifts will be receipted based on the date of the postmark on the envelope—not the date on the cheque.

Note: We do not recommend mailing credit card information, as credit card gifts must be charged before the end of the year to be considered a 2023 gift, and we cannot guarantee that your credit card information will be processed in time.

Suggestions for International Donors

If you pay taxes in the United Kingdom or Hong Kong, you may benefit from donating to one of Regent’s partner foundations (see below). Other international donors can donate directly to Regent College.

Donating from the UK

British taxpayers can take advantage of the UK’s Gift Aid benefit by donating to the Friends of Regent College Canada Trust. (This effectively adds 25p to every pound you donate!) Click below to make a Gift Aid donation online, or visit the Trust’s website for information on other ways to give.

Donating from Hong Kong

Hong Kong taxpayers can donate to the Regent College (Hong Kong) Foundation. Visit the Foundation’s website to download a gift form and find instructions on giving by cheque or bank transfer.

Regent College (Hong Kong) Foundation Ltd. is a recognized charitable organization which is exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance in Hong Kong. Cumulative annual donations of HK$100 or above are tax deductible with an official receipt in Hong Kong.

The generosity of donors means so much to the Regent community. We’re grateful to God for providing for Regent and its students, and we’re grateful to the friends and supporters he uses to do so! If you choose to make a gift of any kind this year-end, you can be sure it will make a real difference for students. Thank you!
