It is with great sadness that we share the news that a member of Regent’s Board of Governors, our colleague, friend, and brother Bill Atkinson, died on the afternoon of Friday, May 16, 2025. He was 42 years old.
“Bill was a remarkable person,” said Regent College President Jeff Greenman. “He did excellent work in his capacity as a Board member, and particularly as chair of the Board's finance committee. Bill's patient, courageous, and faith-filled battle with cancer was an amazing witness to his hope and joy in Christ amidst great affliction,” said Jeff.
Regent Board of Governors Chair Earl Phillips described Bill as “extraordinary.” Echoing Jeff’s remarks, Earl observed that Bill “brought exceptional skill and deep financial experience to his role as Treasurer of Regent College, and he never wavered in his commitment despite his arduous battle with cancer.
“Even better, Bill was compassionate and caring, and the love of Christ in his life informed and guided all he did. He served everyone who crossed his path, no matter what their need or concern, and he serves us still with the example of his life.”
Please join the Regent community in praying for Bill’s wife, Hayley, and their two daughters. We will provide details about a memorial service when that information becomes available.
