Monday to Saturday: Ministering in Your Workplace

This course will explore the theology, dynamics and practice of being a minister in the workplace. More than chaplaincy—doing ministerial church activities in the workplace—this seminar will explore multiple dimensions of caring for whole persons in their workplaces in the light of the presence and purpose of God. It will also engage people with personal formation essential for ministering in a challenging context. This course is for: (1) Church pastors who intend to extend ministry to the members in the marketplace; (2) Business owners/executives and employees who intend to develop a pastoring ministry in their workplace; (3) Members of the people of God who intend to pursue a role as marketplace pastors in their workplace or through their jobs/workplace.

The Westminster Abbey location. This is a Benedictine monastery in Mission, BC and each participant will have a private room with an ensuite bath. There are a few double rooms and spouses are welcome but must pay the full fee (160 CAD assuming they are not taking this for credit). The course starts on Friday evening after dinner at 7.30 p.m. and finishes on Sunday after the noon meal (1.00 p.m.). All five meals are included in the 160 CAD for the course (extra to tuition fee) including towels and linens. Participants are free to engage in the liturgy of the monastic community. The pace of the course will be teaching followed by prayer and reflection. Shared transportation to and from the Abbey (about 1.5 hours drive) is organized.
