Part-time, fixed term (up to 20 hours per week)

In your role as the Writer, you will work closely with the Communications Team to tell the Regent College story. Reporting to the Director of Communications and Public Engagement, you will collaborate with staff and faculty to develop, create, and steward accurate and on-brand web content, email marketing campaigns, and other print and digital resources.

The position will start as soon as possible and finish on December 19, 2025.

The hourly rate for this position is $28/hour plus 6% vacation pay.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Creating website content
    • Maintaining and updating existing pages
    • Creating content for new pages
    • Working closely with webmaster and graphic designer to implement changes that require programming or new design
  • Preparing and implementing marketing and recruitment campaigns
    • Working closely with the Communications Team and colleagues in other departments to develop and implement cross-platform campaigns
    • writing and editing compelling and convincing copy for a range of platforms including websites, print publications, email marketing, and social media
  • Supporting major publications
    • Creating and editing content for major publications (print and digital) for the Summer Programs catalogue and Regent's forthcoming web content platform
    • Includes collaborating on production and publication timelines; developing creative and marketing themes; working closely with graphic designer and web developer on layout and design; soliciting submissions; interviewing subjects; writing and editing articles and copy; inputting web content
  • Managing editorial calendar of news and events
    • Coordinating with members of Communications Team and other departments to set and maintain the editorial calendar
    • Overseeing regular communication of news and events to the Regent community. Includes writing news releases, publishing a digital newsletter, refreshing the website homepage, and working with the Senior Writer and Digital Media Assistant to prepare social media campaigns and maintain the events calendar
  • Coordinating production of quality content for the College’s various departments
    • Liaising with staff in other departments to ensure that digital and print materials meet brand and quality standards. Includes both content creation and advising, editing, and revising the work of others
    • Assisting compliance with the College’s style guide
    • Working closely with graphic designer on all design pieces. Proofread publications before they go to the printer or are released digitally

  • Understands and supports the ethos and mission of Regent College as articulated in the Theological Position
  • Has a BA (or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Has experience in digital marketing and communications
  • Is creative, adaptable, thorough, and attentive to detail
  • Writes compelling and engaging content that is attentive to voice, brand, and tone
  • Strong copy editing and proof reading skills
  • Has proven ability to produce high-quality work in a time-sensitive work environment
  • Has experience in project management, with proven ability to map out a project’s tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects at once
  • Excels in and enjoys a balance of independent and collaborative work
  • Displays the ability to thoughtfully steward relationships with various stakeholders, including vendors, media, freelancers, faculty, and colleagues throughout the College
