ThM Seminar: Theological Research and Writing

This seminar-style course introduces advanced students to the perspectives, tools, and methods employed in the various theological disciplines and is intended to prepare students to design, research, and write a ThM-level thesis.  The course is required of ThM students, but will be open to a limited number of MA students.

Academic theology performs a vital role within the larger church, a role not always appreciated in the contemporary context of activism and pragmatism.  Perhaps this is because academic theology has simply become “academic” in the pejorative sense.  Yet it may also be because the church has forgotten just what theology is and why it matters.  This course seeks to redress both problems by encouraging students to reflect both on the purposes of evangelical theology and the role the intellect plays in spiritual formation.

This course has a maximum enrollment of 12 students.

To get into a priority enrollment course, you must register by the early registration deadline (see Important Dates) and must submit a Priority Enrollment Course Request (available through the "Additional Registration Requests" section of the Registration menu in REGIS or download it directly here) after completing your registration. Class lists will be determined within a week after the early registration deadline, and you will be notified by email shortly thereafter. First priority will be given to students who need a course for the program to which they have been admitted, and who have registered by the early registration deadline.
