Meditation | ¿Quién Como El Señor? (Who Is Like The Lord?)

Traditional Mexican “Corito” | Unknown Author | Arrangement by Jose Pérez and Andrés Pérez.

Who, who, who is like the Lord, who opened up the sea with his power?
Who, who, who is like the Lord, who opened up the sea with his power?
The nations will hear about what He has done and tremble when they see His wonders
His people will praise him, dance with tambourines, and declare:
Who, who, who is like the Lord?

Call to Worship | Colossians 1:9-14 (Revised)

Revised from NLT and NIV translations

We gather as the children of the Triune God of Grace,
that we may be further filled with complete knowledge of his will
and be given spiritual wisdom and understanding.
Then the way we live will honor and please the Lord
as we bear fruit in every good work
and grow in the knowledge of him.
As he strengthens us with all power
according to his glorious might,
may we have great endurance and patience;
may we give joyful thanks to the Father,
who has qualified us to share in the inheritance
of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Praise the Lord!

Jesus Shall Reign

Isaac Watts, Robin Pecknold | Public Domain. © Foxes Fellowship

Jesus shall reign where'er the sun
Does His successive journeys run
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore
Till moons shall rise and set no more

People and realms of every tongue
Dwell on His love with sweetest song
And infant voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on His name

Blessings abound wherever He reigns
The prisoner leaps to lose his chains
The weary find eternal rest
And all the sons of want are blest

Let every creature rise and bring
The highest honours to our King
Angels descend with songs again
And earth repeats the loud Amen

Hail to the Lord’s Anointed

James Montgomery, Thomas Vito Aiuto, Sufjan Stevens | Asthmatic Kitt, New Jerusalem Music

Hail to the Lord's Anointed, Great David's greater Son
Hail, in the time appointed, His reign on earth begun
He comes to break oppression, to set the captive free
To take away transgression and rule in equity

He comes with succor speedy to those who suffer wrong
To help the poor and needy and bid the weak be strong
To give them songs for sighing, their darkness turn to light
Whose souls, condemned and dying, are precious in his sight

He shall come down like showers upon the fruitful earth
Love, joy, and hope, like flowers spring in his path to birth
Before him, on the mountains shall peace the herald go
And righteousness, like fountains from hill to valley flow

To him shall prayer unceasing and daily vows ascend
His kingdom still increasing, a kingdom without end
The tide of time shall never his covenant remove
His name shall stand for ever, His Name alone is love

Meditation

Main text taken from On Pascha | Melito of Sardis (d.180 AD)

Praise the Lord, our strength and song!
Praise the Lord, our strong Deliverer!

He is the one who ransomed us from the worship of the world
   as from the land of Egypt,
and he set us free from the slavery of the devil
   as from the hand of Pharaoh,
and sealed our souls with his own Spirit,
and the members of our body with his blood.
Praise the Lord, our strong Deliverer!

This is the one who clad death in shame
   and, as Moses did to Pharaoh,
   made the devil grieve.
This is the one who struck down lawlessness
   and made injustice childless,
   as Moses did to Egypt.
Praise the Lord, our strong Deliverer!

This is the one who delivered us from slavery to freedom,
   from darkness into light,
   from death into life,
 from tyranny into an eternal Kingdom,
and made us a new priesthood,
   and a people everlasting for himself.
Praise the Lord, our strong Deliverer!

Song of Moses

Pat Barrett, Graham Kendrick, Aaron Keyes, Chris Moerman, Ben Smith

Oh the Lord, our strength and song
Highest praise to him belongs
Christ the Lord the conquering King
Your name we raise, your triumphs sing

   Praise the Lord our strong Deliverer!
   Praise the Lord the Glorious One!
   By his hand we stand in victory
   By his name we overcome

Though the storms of hell pursue
In darkest night we worship you
You divide the raging sea
From death to life you safely lead

All the saints and angels bow
Hosts of heaven crying out
"Glory, glory to the King!
You reign for all eternity!"

The Lord shall reign forever and ever (Repeat)

Testimony

Joanna Welter

Scripture | Psalm 77:1-3,11-20 (NRSV)

I cry aloud to God, aloud to God, that he may hear me.
In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord;
in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying;
my soul refuses to be comforted. I think of God, and I moan;
I meditate, and my spirit faints.

I will call to mind the deeds of the Lord;
I will remember your wonders of old.
I will meditate on all your work, and muse on your mighty deeds.
Your way, O God, is holy. What god is so great as our God?
You are the God who works wonders;
you have displayed your might among the peoples.
With your strong arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.
When the waters saw you, O God,when the waters saw you,
they were afraid; the very deep trembled.
The clouds poured out water; the skies thundered;
your arrows flashed on every side.
The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;
your lightnings lit up the world; the earth trembled and shook.
Your way was through the sea, your path, through the mighty waters;
yet your footprints were unseen.

Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer

Lyrics: William Williams | Tune (“Cwm Rhondda”): John Hughes | Trans: Peter Williams

Guide me O thou great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land
I am weak but thou art mighty, hold me with thy pow'rful hand
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven, feed me now and ever more
Feed me now and ever more

Open thou the crystal fountain whence the healing stream doth flow
Let the fiery cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through
Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield
Be thou still my strength and shield

When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside
Death of death and hell's destruction, land me safe on Canaan's side
Songs and praises, songs and praises, I will ever give to thee
I will ever give to thee
