Call to Worship|Psalm 84

How delightful are your dwellings
O Almighty Lord, to us!
For your courts our souls are yearning
In your house we long to be
Our hearts and our flesh cry out aloud
For the true and living God
How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!

Even sparrows find their dwelling
And the swallow builds a nest
Near your altar, Lord Almighty
Where her offspring may have rest
Blessed whose home is your abode
They are ever praising You
How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!

Blessed are those whose strength is in you
Those who have a pilgrim’s mind.
Pools from autumn rains refresh them
Springs in Baca’s vale they find
Strength increasing, Zionward they go find their way to God
How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!

One day in your courts is better
Than a thousand days elsewhere.
Let us stay in our God’s temple
Let us stand at the threshold of the house of our God,
Rather than find happiness in the tents of wickedness.
How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!

Better is One Day

Matt Redman | 1995 Thankyou Music

How lovely is your dwelling place O Lord Almighty
For my soul longs and even faints for You
For here my heart is satisfied within Your presence
I sing beneath the shadow of your wings

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
 Than thousand elsewhere
 (Repeat)

One thing I ask and I would seek to see Your beauty
To find You in the place your glory swells
One thing I would ask and I would seek to see Your beauty
To find You in the place your glory swells

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
 Than thousand elsewhere
 (Repeat)

My heart and flesh cry out for You the living God
Your Spirit’s water to my soul
I’ve tasted and I’ve seen come once again to me
I will draw near to You

Better is one day in Your courts
Better is one day in Your house
Better is one day in Your courts
 Than thousand elsewhere
 (Repeat)

O The Deep Deep Love of Jesus

Samuel Trevor Francis and Thomas J. Williams | Public Domain

O the deep deep love of Jesus
Vast unmeasured boundless free
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me
Underneath all around me
Is the current of they love
Leading onward leading homeward
To thy glorious rest above

O the deep deep love of Jesus
Spread His praise from shore to shore
How He loveth ever loveth
Changeth never nevermore
How He watches o’er His loved ones
Died to call them all His own
How for them He intercedeth
Watches over them from the throne

O the deep deep love of Jesus
Love of every love the best
Still an ocean vast of blessing
Still a haven sweet of rest
O the deep deep love of Jesus
‘tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me
And it lifts me up to glory
For it lifts me up to thee
O the deep deep love of Jesus
‘tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me
And it lifts me up to glory
For it lifts me up to thee

Meditation

Based on Revelation 21:1-7 and Augustine’s Confessions, Book 4.16. Trans. Sarah Ruden.

Praise the Lord who is seated on the throne!
Praise the Alpha and the Omega!

All of our decayed parts will flower again,
And all of our afflictions will be healed.
Praise the Lord who is seated on the throne!
Praise the Alpha and the Omega!

The things that are broken will be made new,
And all that is lost will be found again.
Praise the Lord who is seated on the throne!
Praise the Alpha and the Omega!

The Lord stands ready and holds his ground.
He will not let us fall, he will save us from the depths.
Praise the Lord who is seated on the throne!
Praise the Alpha and the Omega!

The Word of God is with us!
We are not alone.
The Word of God is with us!
We will fix our home in him.

Praise the Lord who is seated on the throne!
Praise the Alpha and the Omega!

Love Divine All Loves Excelling

Words: Charles Wesley | Tune: Dick Grout “Holy Ghost, Dispel our Sadness”

Love divine all loves excelling
Joy of heav’n to earth come down
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling
All thy faithful mercies crown
Jesus Thou art all compassion
Pure unbounded love Thou art
Visit us with Thy salvation
Enter every trembling heart

Breathe O breathe Thy loving Spirit
Into every troubled breast
Let us all in Thee inherit
Let us find the promised rest
Take away our bent to sinning
Alpha and Omega be
End of faith as its beginning
Set our hearts at liberty

Finish then Thy new creation
Pure and spotless let us be
Let us see Thy great salvation
Let us find our home in Thee
Changed from glory into glory
Till with You we take our place
Till we cast our crowns before Thee
Lost in wonder love and praise

Prayer for the Lost and Oppressed

Based on the Daily Prayers of the Corrymeela Community by Pádraig Ó Tuama

God of Exile,
You were carried into Egypt
By people fleeing danger and seeking for shelter and safety.
Because you were exiled and remained with the exiled,
We pray for every refugee and asylum seeker,
May they find their home in You.

God of the Edges,
No one is a stranger to you and no one is far from your kindness.
Because you were also an immigrant,
We pray for all immigrants who walk to the earth
feeling invisible and displaced,
May they find their home in You.

Jesus of the sheathed sword,
In your name, many swords have been used,
and many people have perished.
We pray for all who have lost their homes to war and violence,
May they find their home in You.

God of the accused and the accusing,
Because you came to those who were incarcerated,
And delivered those who were in chains.
We pray for all who are imprisoned and who face isolation and fear,
May they find their home in You.

God of the alone,
Because you were alone, and forgotten,
And had nowhere to recline your head,
We pray for all who are homeless,
and wander the streets feeling lost and isolated,
May they find their home in You.

Testimony

Scripture | Revelation 21:1-7 (NIV) (NIV)

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.”

Is He Worthy

Andrew Peterson and Ben Shive | 2018 Jakedog Music (Admin. by Music Services, Inc.)

Do you feel the world is broken?
We do
Do you feel the shadows deepen?
We do
But do you know that all the dark
won’t stop the light from getting through?
We do
Do you wish that you could see it all made new?
We do

Is all creating groaning?
It is
Is a new creation coming?
It is
Is the glory of the Lord to be the light within our midst?
It is
Is it good that we remind ourselves of this?
It is

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
Is he worthy? Is he worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory?
  Is he worthy of this?
  He is

Does the Father truly love us?
He does
Does the Spirit move among us?
He does
And does Jesus our Messiah hold forever those he loves?
He does
Does our God intend to dwell again with us?
He does

Is anyone worthy? Is anyone whole?
Is anyone able to break the seal and open the scroll?
The Lion of Judah who conquered the grave
He is David’s root and the Lamb who died to ransom the slave
From every people and tribe, every nation and tongue
He has made us a kingdom and priests to God to reign with the Son
Is he worthy? Is he worthy?
Of all blessing and honor and glory?
  Is he worthy of this?
  He is
  Is he worthy?
  Is he worthy?
  He is
  He is
