Introduction

Call to Worship

I have seen the sun break through
to illuminate a small field
for a while, and gone my way
and forgotten it. But that was the
pearl of great price, the one field that had
treasure in it.
I realise now
that I must give all that I have
to possess it. Life is not hurrying

on to a receding future, nor hankering after
an imagined past. It is the turning
aside like Moses to the miracle
of the lit bush,
to a brightness
that seemed as transitory as your youth
once, but is the eternity that awaits you.

As The Deer

© 1984 Words and Music by Martin Nystrom

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after thee
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship thee

You alone are my strength my shield
To you alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship thee

You're my friend and you are my brother
Even though you are a King
I love you more than any other
So much more than anything

I want you more than gold or silver
Only you can satisfy
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye

Psalm 63

1 O God, you are my God, I seek | you,
my soul thirsts for | you;
my flesh faints for | you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is no | water.

2 So I have looked upon you in the | sanctuary,
beholding your power and | glory.
3 Because your steadfast love is better than | life,
my lips will praise | you.

4 So I will bless you as long as I | live;
I will lift up my hands and call on your | name.
5 My soul is satisfied as with a rich | feast,
and my mouth praises you with joyful | lips

6 when I think of you on my | bed,
and meditate on you in the watches of the | night;
7 for you have been my | help,
and in the shadow of your wings I sing for | joy.

8 My soul clings to | you;
your right hand up | holds me.
9 But those who seek to destroy my | life
shall go down into the depths of the | earth;

10 they shall be given over to the power of the | sword,
they shall be prey for | jackals.
11 But the king shall rejoice in God;
all who swear by him shall | exult,
for the mouths of liars will be | stopped.

Glory be to the | Father
and to the Son, and to the Holy | Spirit;
As it was in the be | ginning,
is now, and ever shall be, world without end. A | men

Prayers of the People

I Don't Wanna Go

© 2018 Words and Music by Chris Renzema

Like David and the temple
I want to bring you praise
Like David and his temple plans
Your ways are not my ways
You don't need me to build a temple
To know that you love me still oh

Like Israel on the shore
All I see is crashing waves
But like Israel on the shore
It's through the wild you make a way
I will go where you go
I will stay where you stay oh

I don't wanna go if you're not going before me
I don't wanna go if you're not going before me (2X)

Like Moses in the desert
I want to see the land
But like Moses in the desert
I can't fully see your plan
Still your love doesn't stop
When I see the land from a mountaintop oh

Like Peter on the hill
I want to make this my place
Like Peter on the hill
Before your transfigured face
I will go where you go
I will stay where you stay oh

Anywhere you are I wanna be there
It's written on my heart you're all I've ever needed
Anywhere you go I wanna be there
It's written on my soul you're all I've ever needed

Like Jesus in the garden
I want you to take this cup from me
Like Jesus in the garden
You don't call where you won't lead
I wanna love like you love
Wanna bleed like you bleed oh

Scripture | Exod. 33:1-16 (NRSVCE)

1 The Lord said to Moses, “Go, leave this place, you and the people
whom you have brought up out of the land of Egypt, and go to the
land of which I swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘To your
descendants I will give it.’
2 I will send an angel before you, and I will drive out the Canaanites,
the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the
Jebusites.
3 Go up to a land flowing with milk and honey; but I will not go up
among you, or I would consume you on the way, for you are a stiff-necked
people.”
4 When the people heard these harsh words, they mourned, and no
one put on ornaments.
5 For the Lord had said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘You are a
stiff-necked people; if for a single moment I should go up among
you, I would consume you. So now take off your ornaments, and I will
decide what to do to you.’”
6 Therefore the Israelites stripped themselves of their ornaments,
from Mount Horeb onward.
7 Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far
off from the camp; he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone
who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was
outside the camp.
8 Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would rise
and stand, each of them, at the entrance of their tents and watch
Moses until he had gone into the tent.
9 When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend
and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord would speak
with Moses.
10 When all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the
entrance of the tent, all the people would rise and bow down, all of
them, at the entrance of their tent.
11 Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks
to a friend. Then he would return to the camp; but his young
assistant, Joshua son of Nun, would not leave the tent.
12 Moses said to the Lord, “See, you have said to me, ‘Bring up this
people’; but you have not let me know whom you will send with me.
Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found
favor in my sight.’
13 Now if I have found favor in your sight, show me your ways, so
that I may know you and find favor in your sight. Consider too that
this nation is your people.”
14 He said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
15 And he said to him, “If your presence will not go, do not carry us up
from here.
16 For how shall it be known that I have found favor in your sight, I
and your people, unless you go with us? In this way, we shall be
distinct, I and your people, from every people on the face of the
earth.”

Homily | "If You Do Not Go With Us" George Guthrie | Professor of New Testament

Reflective Prayer

As you feel comfortable, come to the front where you will see a large
piece of paper laid out. Using the charcoal, we invite you to write
prayers of confession, lament, intercession, or thanksgiving. When you
are finished, rub the words out using your hands, so that the words are
no longer readable. At the end of Lent, this paper will be turned into a
collage for Easter

Hosanna

© 2006 Words and Music by Brooke Fraser

I see the King of glory
Coming on the clouds with fire
The whole earth shakes
The whole earth shakes yeah

I see his love and mercy
Washing over all our sin
The people sing
The people sing

   Hosanna Hosanna
   Hosanna in the highest (2X)

       Chinese: 和撒那归至高神
       Spanish: Hosanna en las alturas
       Portuguese: Hosana nas alturas
       Korean: 호산나 높은 곳에
       Hindi: होसन्ना सबसे ऊंचे
       Malay: Hosana termulia
       German: Hosianna in der Höhe
       Swahili: Hosana juu mbinguni

I see a generation
Rising up to take their place
With selfless faith
With selfless faith

I see a near revival
Stirring as we pray and seek
We're on our knees
We're on our knees

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me
Break my heart for what breaks yours
Everything I am for your Kingdom's cause
As I walk from earth into eternity
