Introduction

Call to Worship | Psalm 40:1-5, 9-10 (NIV)

1 I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set
my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.

4 Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the
proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
5 Many, Lord my God, are the wonders you have done, the things
you planned for us.
None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.

...
9 I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my
lips, Lord, as you know.
10 I do not hide your righteousness in my heart;
I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help.
I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great
assembly.

Lord You Give the Great Commission

Words by Jeffrey Rowthorn and Music by Rowland H. Pritchard

Lord you give the great commission
Heal the sick and preach the word
Lest the church neglect its mission
And the gospel go unheard
Help us witness to your purpose
With renewed integrity

With the Spirit's gifts empower us
   For the work of ministry

Lord you call us to your service
In my name baptize and teach
That the world may trust your promise
Life abundant meant for each
Give us all new fervor
Draw us closer in community

Lord you make the common holy
This my body this my blood
Let us all for earth's true glory
Daily lift life heavenward
Asking that the world around us
Share your children's liberty

Lord you show us love's true measure
Father what they do forgive
Yet we hoard as private treasure
All that you so freely give
May your care and mercy lead us
To a just society

Lord you bless with words assuring
I am with you to the end
Faith and hope and love restoring
May we serve as you intend
And amid the cares that claim us
Hold in mind eternity

Let Us Be Known By Our Love

© 2015 Words and Music by Matt Armstrong, Micah Massey, Nate Moore, and Ryan Flanigan

Let us be known by our love
In every word in every deed honor the Son
Let our light shine in every eye
Let us be known by our love

For the glory of the Father
For the glory of the Son
For the glory of the Spirit
Let us be known by our love

Let us be known by our joy
In every home in every heart sing to the Lord
Let our life show goodness and hope
Let us be known by our joy

For the glory of the Father
For the glory of the Son
For the glory of the Spirit
Let us be known by our joy

Let us be known by our peace
In every town in every tribe Jesus is king
Let us go forth heal and restore
Let us be known by our peace

For the glory of the Father
For the glory of the Son
For the glory of the Spirit
Let us be known by our peace
Let us be known by our joy
Let us be known by our love

Scripture | Isaiah 44:6-8 & Acts 1:1-9 (NIV)

6“This is what the Lord says—
Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.
7 Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and lay out before me
what has happened since I established my ancient people,
and what is yet to come—
yes, let them foretell what will come.
8 Do not tremble, do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago?
You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?
No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.”

1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began
to do and to teach
2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions
through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen.
3After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many
convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a
period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.
4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this
command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father
promised, which you have heard me speak about.
5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be
baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at
this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
7He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the
Father has set by his own authority.
8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and
you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth.”
9After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a
cloud hid him from their sight.

Shine Jesus Shine

© 1987 Words and Music by Graham Kendrick

Lord the light of Your love is shining
In the midst of the darkness shining
Jesus Light of the World shine upon us
Set us free by the truth You now bring us
Shine on me shine on me

   Shine Jesus shine
Fill this land with the Father's glory
   Blaze Spirit blaze
   Set our hearts on fire
   Flow river flow
Flood the nations with grace and mercy
   Send forth Your word
Lord and let there be light

Lord I come to Your awesome presence
From the shadows into Your radiance
By the blood I may enter Your brightness
Search me try me consume all my darkness
Shine on me shine on me

As we gaze on Your kingly brightness
So our faces display Your likeness
Ever changing from glory to glory
Mirrored here may our lives tell Your story
Shine on me shine on me
