Intermediate Old Testament Hebrew II

This course aims to continue the work from LANG 610 by means of review assignments and tests; to expand the student’s grasp of Hebrew syntax through the reading of a variety of secondary sources; and, most importantly, to develop Hebrew reading skills by reading through and translating a series of texts from the Hebrew Bible relating to the theme of theophany. A reference lexicon (such as BDB or Holladay) and a critical text of the Hebrew Bible (preferably BHS) will be essential for these assignments. A more detailed schedule will be provided at the beginning of class. In addition to preparing for the assigned texts before each class, the student will be required to learn Hebrew words used 30 times or more in the Hebrew Bible.
