Intermediate Old Testament Hebrew II

As a continuation of Intermediate Old Testament Hebrew I, students will translate the Hebrew book of Esther in order to build upon an intermediate proficiency in biblical Hebrew grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. An introduction to and engagement with BHQ, text-critical apparatus, and the masorah will further enable students to grapple with significant exegetical issues. This in-depth understanding of biblical Hebrew will enrich the student’s cultural understanding the ancient Israelite world, appreciation of the formation of scripture, and ability to illuminate faithfully the Bible in their own contexts.
