History of Evangelicalism

Since its inception in the eighteenth century, the evangelical movement has revitalised Protestantism. Examine the development of evangelicalism from its origin to the present day, attending to such developments as the evangelical affinity with the Enlightenment, the later rise of Romantic influences, the Modernist-Fundamentalist debate, the social gospel, and charismatic renewal. Explore nuances of the identity of evangelicalism and delve into evangelical phenomena such as the hope of the imminent second coming and the growth of the holiness movement.
