Academic Writing
This course is designed to help students engage in graduate research and to write the papers that will be required during their course of study at Regent. Students will receive instruction in reading and thinking critically and in improving their writing skills. The course is especially appropriate for those who have a technical (rather than an arts) background, those who are returning to formal study after some years, and for international students who have a command of English but lack experience writing in English. During the semester, students may participate in one-on-one tutorials that will focus on individual problems and concerns.
The course will be offered in person and online by Zoom and supported with a number of online handouts and resources on Moodle. The focus will be on practical skills and the weekend format will be paced with plenty of breaks, discussion, and hands-on exercises.
We would be surprised if this course did not raise your grade-point average at least a third of a letter grade this term!
This is a non-credit course that is offered on January 17 and 18, 2025 (from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm; and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm).
