The Psalms uniquely express the contingency between the human and the divine—relationally, cognitively, and emotionally. As the prayer book of Israel and of the Christian church, they still hold their unique influence today in the personal formation of elders. This process we will outline in the lecture.

James Houston is one of the “founding fathers” of Regent College, where he currently serves as Board of Governors' Professor in Spiritual Theology. He has recently published A Vision for the Aging Church: Renewing Ministry for and by Seniors (IVP, 2011) with Dr. Michael Parker. Read his full bio.
