Fall Retreat 2019

Friday, Sep 27, 2019 at 6:00PM - Sunday, Sep 29, 2019 at 1:00PM PST

This event has now ended. Please view this page to see all our upcoming events.

We kick off every school year with a retreat for Regent students, staff, faculty, spouses, and kids. The retreat is an opportunity for the whole school to get away together and connect with God, creation, each other, and ourselves. As a community, we will worship, eat, connect, play, and rest.

The Fall Retreat is held at RockRidge Canyon in Princeton, BC, from September 27–29, 2019. It includes:

  • Three main sessions - with a nursery and children’s program
  • A facilitated group opportunity to meet the faculty
  • A Ceilidh
  • A Variety Show
  • An opportunity to meet with a Spiritual Director
  • Plenty of free time to rest, study, hike, play sport, swim, kayak, canoe, mountain bike ... or zipline!

Teaching Theme

Throughout the weekend, Craig Gay and Julie Lane Gay will be speaking on the theme: Why Theology (Really) Matters: Why It's (Really) Good You're Here!

Friday night: An interview with with Julie and Craig.

Saturday morning: On the Renewal of our Minds

In North America (and perhaps, worldwide) churches are drifting from the depths and riches of theological thinking. This is one of the reasons our ministries have become shallow and why many have become so deeply dis-couraged with evangelical Christianity. Your study of theology will prepare you to en-courage those who have become disheartened.

In this session, Craig will reflect on why theological study is the most practical of undertakings and Julie will reflect on why we need to learn to love.

Sunday morning: Theology and the Restoration of the World

There’s an old churchly saying that suggests "the world wants to be deceived." This is to be expected. Yet the various deceits the world embraces do real damage to real people. In studying theological truths we aren't simply training to be pastors or informed laypeople but to be physicians of mind and heart, to be "rebuilders of walls and restorers of homes."

In this session, Craig will reflect on learning "to see with our ears" and Julie will reflect on becoming restorers.
