Fall Retreat 2024
This event has now ended. Please view this page to see all our upcoming events.
Each September, we start the school year with a retreat for Regent students, staff, faculty, spouses, and kids. This is a chance for us to get away and connect with God, creation, each other, and ourselves—a time to worship, eat, play, and rest as we grow in friendship with one another.
This year's retreat will take place from 6 pm on Friday, September 27, to 1 pm on Sunday, September 29.
We are excited to be heading back to RockRidge Canyon, a beautiful Young Life camp tucked in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains near Princeton, BC.
The retreat includes:
- Two nights of accommodation and six delicious meals.
- Three sessions with our speakers (nursery and children’s programs provided).
- Opportunities to get to know faculty and fellow students in small group.
- A Céilí Dance—a fun, Irish style of folk dancing for which you need no prior skill or experience.
- A variety show—always full of laughter and talent.
- Plenty of free time to rest, study, hike, swim, kayak, mountain bike—or zipline!
We are looking forward to being together, and hope you will join us for this fun and formative weekend.
Register for the 2024 Fall Retreat
We have included some helpful information in the drop down menus below. Please note that cellphone reception on the way to RockRidge and at the site can be spotty, so we suggest that you download directions and any information you need for the weekend before leaving Vancouver. There is free Wi-Fi at RockRidge, which you can access should you need it.
Weekend Theme and Teaching
This year, we are excited to have Prabo and Dorothy Mihindukulasuriya teaching on the theme of Sustaining Faith: Cultivating Life in the Spirit for a Long Adventure in the World.
Here is what Prabo and Dorothy say about what they will be sharing with us: "Studying theology in the presence of a faith community in this cultural moment can helpfully re-orient us, but it can also drain us in different ways. Throughout the weekend, we will be invited to listen attentively to the wisdom of Scripture and to the work of the Spirit in our own lives, as we seek to cultivate habits of heart and mind that produce both the sensitivities and resilience we need to live transformationally for Christ and his kingdom."
Accommodation
Cost includes two nights of accommodation, six meals, and snacks. There are three different types of accommodation: tent, dorm room, and Wolfe Creek Lodge. Your overall cost for the weekend will vary according to accommodation type and whether you are registering as a student, spouse, or child. More details about pricing options are available via the online registration page.
Transportation
This year we are relying on carpooling to transport people to and from Rockridge. You will need to organize your own transportation by traveling in someone's car or renting a car.
If you are a new student or struggling to find a ride, please sign up. You can sign up to a car and the driver will contact you with information on pick-up and splitting fuel costs.
Returning students: We kindly ask that you allow some time for new students to sign up for a carpool, and wait until after August 16 to sign up for a spot.
If you have spaces in your car and are willing to help with carpooling, please indicate this during your retreat ticket purchase and someone will be in touch with you.
