Total Atonement: Reconciliation in the Triune God

This course is also offered as THEO 577

This course is a constructive consideration of the doctrine of the atonement so crucial to Christian faith, devotion and preaching. It will defend its coherence in the face of modern accusations of cosmic child abuse and various distortions in popular evangelical preaching. We will argue that God’s participation in humanity in order that humans might participate in God invites a total approach to the mystery of the atonement, that is, one that involves the whole Trinity, the whole person and history of Christ, and all the biblical motifs and theological models of the atonement. Amazing love, how can it be…

Live Online and Recorded: This course is being offered live online in Summer 2021. In order to support students who are unable to attend a class session or who wish to review course content, recordings of each class will also be made available, to all students, on the course Moodle page for 48 hours.

Note: Due to the extension of COVID-19 restrictions in the province of BC and low enrollment in on-campus learning, all on-campus options for Regent College's Spring Session (May 10–June 4) have been cancelled. This course will continue to be accessible via Zoom.
