Faces of Jesus: Christology in the Global South (Seminar)
Course Description
“Who do you say that I am?” (Jesus, Mk 8:29). This question has spawned a myriad of Christological portraits around the world and across time. To complement the rich traditions of Christology in the West, and in view of the rapid expansion of Christianity in the Global South, this seminar explores contemporary Christologies emerging from the majority world. As non-western believers interpret and appropriate Jesus Christ in their respective cultural contexts, new perspectives call for consideration and potentially enhance our corporate understanding of the identity and significance of Christ. As a result, implications emerge for our own theological and spiritual formation, for our church communities, and for our witness to Christ both locally and globally.
