Church and State in the Modern & Post-Modern World
Join us as we consider the relationship between Christian identity, political philosophy, and missional engagement from the late eighteenth century right up to our present moment. Study the complex enmeshment between the institutions of the church and the politics of empire, nationalism, and authoritarianism, with particular attention to the impact of war and dechristianization in the twentieth century and twenty-first centuries. In the process, deepen your historical understanding of the political theories and practices that shape our world today, expand your missional imagination, and gain confidence and hope in the gospel’s relevance and transformative power in our world today.
Live Online and Recorded: This course is being offered live online in Summer 2021.
