Matthew Milliner is Assistant Professor of Art History at Wheaton College. After majoring in art history at his alma mater, he earned an M.Div. at Princeton Theological Seminary, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the Department of Art Archaeology at Princeton University. He is a specialist in Byzantine art, and his research explores how art functions as visual theology, with a focus on how medieval images inform contemporary visual culture. In 2013 he was appointed a member of the Curatorial Advisory Board of the United States Senate.
