March 17, 2020

We know that this is a very challenging time for many. We remain here for our students, staff, and faculty.

Friends,

Following today's declaration of a public health emergency in the Province of BC, we have determined that it is best to close the Regent College building until further notice.

The building will close at 5 pm tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18, 2020. In light of the constantly changing situation in BC and around the world, we cannot predict when the building will reopen.

This is not to say that Regent's operations will cease. Staff will work from home. Faculty will continue to teach courses using the alternative delivery modes that we are piloting this week. Students will continue to study, learn, and write. We will continue to join together as a community in prayer. In the interest of slowing the spread of COVID-19, though, we will do all these things from the safety of our own homes.

A few notes:

  • If there is anything in the College that you need, you must retrieve it before 5 pm tomorrow. If this poses a problem for you, please contact [email protected] immediately.

  • If you require any physical resources from the library, tomorrow (Wednesday) is your last chance to retrieve them. Digital resources will remain available online. Please note that library books should NOT be returned while the College is closed. Watch the library website for more information later this week.

We know that this is a very challenging time for many. Please know that are still here for you in spite of the distance.

  • Students in need of support of any kind should connect with Diane, Claire, or Corey by emailing [email protected]. We will set up an appointment to meet with you online.

  • We recognize that some students may be experiencing concern about meeting deadlines. Students who have concerns about deadlines or their ability to complete assignments should contact their professors directly. We are working on ways to ensure that all students are able to finish the semester well.

  • Staff needing support or a listening ear should connect with the President's Office at [email protected].

This is not the last you'll hear from me: we are working on ways that we can stay in touch as the Regent community over the next weeks and months. In the meantime, please reach out to one another to offer support and encouragement. As Claire would say, it takes a village.

In all of this, I am holding onto the knowledge that God is holding both you and me securely in the grace of the Father, the love of the Son, and the fellowship of the Spirit. Please pray for me and for the College's leadership as we navigate this unprecedented time, and please know that I will be praying for you.

In Christ,

Jeffrey P. Greenman
President, Regent College
