Regent College is pleased to announce the addition of Andre Van Ryk to its Board of Governors. Regarding his confidence in Andre’s appointment, President Paul Spilsbury said, “I am delighted to welcome Andre to the Regent College Board of Governors. Andre brings a wealth of experience and wisdom at a time when the Board is in particular need of acumen and credentials in finances and accounting. Andre is deeply committed to the church and is broadly experienced in Christian governance and oversight. I am looking forward to working with him in the years ahead and have no doubt that he will make an important contribution to the work of the Board.”
Andre has a deep business background in seniors’ housing in the Lower Mainland; he also has broad financial experience that includes an accounting designation and governance certification. Further, he has a passion and concern for organizations that help Christians discern and faithfully live out their callings. Andre has served with national Christian Reformed organizations as well as with Cardus, a non-partisan Christian think tank. Andre brings a combination of financial acumen and strategic abilities rooted in a personal faith and passion that align with the mission of Regent College.
Board Chair Earl Phillips said, “I was excited to have Andre bring his rich experience and deep commitment to Regent. He has jumped in at the deep end and is already making a great contribution to the Board and its Finance & Audit Committee. He is a blessing to the Board, and to Regent, for which we are very grateful.”
The role of the Board of Governors is to oversee all the business of the College. The Board has the authority to govern the College’s operations, appoint the President, appoint faculty and senior staff members, and grant degrees in theology. Andre will serve a three-year term of service beginning in Fall 2025.
