On February 27, 2024, Jeff Greenman, president of Regent College, announced the beginning of a presidential search and transition process that will culminate by June 2025. Jeff became Regent College’s fifth President in 2015; prior to assuming his present role, he served as Regent’s Academic Dean and Executive Vice President.

“It has been an enormous honour to serve Regent in this capacity, especially as the first graduate of the College to hold this role,” Jeff said. “As a student here in the 1980s, I served as a Teaching Assistant to the Principal at that time, Dr. Carl Armerding. I never dreamed I would one day return to Regent in any capacity, let alone as President.”

Concurrent with Jeff’s announcement, Earl Phillips, Board of Governors Chair said, “We praise God for having brought Jeff to us at a crucial and challenging time in the life of the College, and then for providing so wonderfully to meet all those challenges. The College is in a very good position today and is set to thrive in the years to come.”

At their February 2024 meeting a few days ago, Regent’s Board unanimously approved a new strategic plan for the College. Covering the years 2024 to 2026, the plan’s strategic imperative is to “expand missional impact by deepening students’ experience of holistic transformation, increasing participation in educational offerings, and gaining financial sustainability.” Regent will share further details about the strategic plan in the coming weeks.

Jeff is looking forward to serving the College community during the first year of the new strategic plan and throughout the upcoming transition. “When the Board of Governors offered me my current position, I told them that my goal as President was to finish well, no matter how many years I served in the role. That continues to be my goal. There is a great deal of good and important work to be done in the next 15 months. I will give my full energy to seeing the College move ahead with our strategic priorities. I am totally committed to supporting an effective transition for my successor, whomever God calls to this office.”

While Jeff carries Regent through the operational steps of the presidential transition plan, the Board of Governors is beginning a comprehensive global search to find the person God is calling to be Regent’s next President. A search committee will be formed with representation from the Board, faculty, senior staff, and students. They will begin their work immediately, with confidence in God’s continuing provision for Regent’s needs and excitement for the future.

“As always, we covet the prayers of the Regent community as we look to the beginning of a new chapter in the life of the College,” Earl concluded.
