Regent Community Members Winners at the 2011 Canadian Christian Writing Awards

Several Regent faculty and alumni garner prizes at The Word Guild 2011 Canadian Christian Writing Awards on June 15, 2011 in Mississauga, Ont.

J.I. Packer, the Board of Governors' Professor of Theology at Regent College, received the twenty-third annual Leslie K. Tarr Award for outstanding career achievement.

Regent alumna Stacey Gleddiesmith was the winner in the "Inspirational/Devotional Book" category for Welcoming the Stranger: Readying Ourselves for Christmas, the 2010 Advent Reader that included writing by Regent faculty, emeritus professors, and alumni.

Stacey Gleddiesmith also received an Award of Merit in the "Single Column" category for My God, My God, Why? Understanding the Lament Psalms (published in Reformed Worship), while Regent alumnus Kurt Armstrong was the winner in this category for Jesus Loves Your Penis, Son(published in Geez Magazine).

James K. A. Smith (Regent College Summer Lecturer in 2010) won in the "Academic Book" category for Thinking in Tongues: Pentecostal Contributions to Christian Philosophy (Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co.).

Short-listed in the "Academic Book" category was Karen Stiller (Regent alumna) along withWillard Metzger for Going Missional: Conversations with 13 Canadian Churches who Have Embraced Missional Life (Word Alive Press).

Alumna Ella Sailor won in the "Personal Experience Article" category for I Can't Find Him(published in Inscribed).
