Introduction to Christian Counselling

This course is an introduction to basic counselling theories and skills. Although this course is intended for those who have not had formal counselling training, it is hoped that mental health practitioners who are seeking ways to integrate their faith with their practice might also benefit. Major topics include: theological integration of psychology and counselling; an introduction to common counselling models, basic listening skills; issues in clinical practice; assessment and intervention; and special topics in counselling. As an overview course, the class time will be largely of a lecture nature. However, time will be given in class to participate in role-play situations and work on basic counselling skills.
