Seriously Dangerous Religion:  What the Old Testament Really Says and Why it Matters.

We live in a culture in which people increasingly believe that monotheistic religion is dangerous, and that biblical monotheism is seriously dangerous, and ought to be rejected by all right-thinking people—especially because the God of the Bible is violent. But is any of this true? This seminar explores these issues of God, Scripture, and violence.

Dr. Iain Provan has been Marshall Sheppard Professor of Biblical Studies at Regent College since 1997. He has taught and written extensively on biblical studies and hermeneutics. His recent book Seriously Dangerous Religion: What the Old Testament Really Says and Why It Matters (Baylor, 2014) won the 2016 R.B.Y. Scott Book Award at the Canadian Society of Biblical Studies.

Dr. Provan will also be delivering the two morning services at North Shore Alliance Church on October 23, 2016.

Location
North Shore Alliance Church, 201 East 23 St, North Vancouver BC
