Public Speaking Workshop

Monday, Feb 23, 2015 at 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM (Pacific Time)

This event has now ended. Please view this page to see all our upcoming events.

The fear of public speaking grips most people, though at some time each of us will be called upon to address groups and try to get our message across effectively. This seminar will tackle everything you need to know to be a better public speaker, from the mechanics of speaking (posture and breathing, effective use of audio visual aids, etc), to the content of your presentations (identifying your key points, knowing your audience, translating technical material etc) and finally, how to actually enjoy the experience!

Patti Towler began public speaking and debating as a student, and went on to become one of the top ranked university debaters in Canada, later winning numerous awards for mock trials in the US and Canada as a law student. She then enjoyed a successful career as a trial lawyer before joining Regent College as Vice President (External) and General Counsel in 2004. She has used her public speaking skills in numerous settings, as a litigator, a public speaking coach, a lay preacher, and a frequent conference speaker.

Attendees may pre-register by noon February 19 for $10, or pay $15 at the door. Pre-registrations may be done with credit card online via the link below or with cash or cheque at the reception desk.
