Michael J. Gorman argues that the similarities in theme, phrasing, and theological emphasis observed in Paul's letters and the Gospel of John can best be explained if Paul had a deep familiarity with John's writing. This analysis suggests not only that Paul engaged with a wider range of ideas than is often understood, but also that much of what we think we know about the development of the New Testament deserves further scrutiny.
