About the Lecture

Christians commonly acknowledge a conviction that the Bible has authority. Yet when asked to give further explanation of that authority and how it works, they may find themselves at a loss. In fact, there are many different ways to construe the Bible’s authority, and each one is inevitably accompanied by a hermeneutical approach. That is, people will use a methodology that corresponds with where they locate the Bible’s authority. In this talk, John Walton will introduce ten models of biblical authority, address the pros and cons of each, and evaluate their suitability to serve as the basis for a comprehensive hermeneutic.
