Call to Worship | Colossians 3:15-17 (Revised)
May the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, for as members of one body we were called to peace.
And let us be thankful.
Let the message of Christ dwell among us richly
as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom
through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit,
singing to God with gratitude in our hearts.
Whatever we do, whether in word or deed,
let us do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Praise To The Lord The Almighty
Joachim Neander and Catherine Winkworth | Tune: Lobe Den Herren | Public Domain
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty,
the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him,
for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration.
Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things
so wondrously reigneth,
Shelters thee under His wings, yea,
so gently sustaineth!
Hast thou not seen how thy desires e'er have been
Granted in what He ordaineth?
Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper
thy work and defend thee;
Surely His goodness and mercy here daily attend thee;
Ponder anew what the Almighty can do,
If with His love He befriend thee.
Praise to the Lord, oh, let all that is in me adore Him!
All that hath life and breath,
come now with praises before Him;
Let the Amen sound from His people again,
Gladly for aye we adore Him.
Jesus Calls Us
Lyrics: © 1989 Iona Community | Tune (Nettleton): unknown
Jesus calls us here to meet him
as through word and song and prayer
We affirm God’s promised presence
where his people live and care
Praise the God who keeps his promise
Praise the Son who calls us friends
Praise the Spirit who among us
to our hopes and fears attends
Jesus calls us to confess him
Word of life and Lord of all
Sharer of our flesh and frailness,
saving all who fail or fall
Tell his holy human story,
share his word that all may hear
Tell the world that Christ in glory
came to earth to meet us here
Jesus calls us to each other,
found in him are no divides
Race and class and sex and language,
such are barriers he derides
Join the hands of friend and stranger,
join the hands of age and youth
Join the faithful and the doubter
in their common search for truth
Time of Prayer
Scripture | 1 Corinthians 12:24-27 (NRSV)
But God has so arranged the body, giving the greater honor to the inferior member, that there may be no dissension within the body, but the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
Homily | Mark D. Roberts:
Relationships! Relationships! Relationships!
Dr. Mark D. Roberts is a Senior Strategist for Fuller’s Max De Pree Center for Leadership, where he focuses on the spiritual development and thriving of leaders. Later this summer (Jul 12-16), he will be teaching: The Bible and Work: Going Broader and Deeper” (APPL 562).
Response: A Practical (and Text-ual!) Exercise
After the homily, Claire will invite you to consider the person(s) you are feeling particularly disconnected with due to the pandemic and with whom you may want to reconnect and rebuild relationship in Christ.
She will then invite you to pull out your phones and text one of them—simply to let them know that you are grateful to God for them! If you don’t have a phone with you, or if you would prefer not to use it, you are invited to offer a prayer for whoever has come to mind.

Isaac Wardell, Leslie Jordan, Orlando Palmer, & Paul Zach
Teach us your ways, teach us your ways
As we learn from one another
Learn to love each other
Teach us your ways
Teach us to give, teach us to give
Give ourselves for one another
Learn to love each other
Teach us to give
Teach us to weep, teach us to weep
Let us weep with one another
Learn to love each other
Teach us to weep
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Let us learn from one another
Learn to love each other Teach us your ways
