Call to Worship

Lord God, we gather here as your people,
May we worship you in Spirit and in truth.

Our Lord Jesus Christ,
You have entered the sanctuary of heaven,
May you now enter the sanctuary of our hearts

You have done away with sin by sacrificing yourself for us.
Come, let us worship in the joy of our salvation.

In Christ Alone

© 2001 Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand

Prayers of the People

Adapted from Psalm 103

Our souls praise you, O Lord
all our inmost beings, praise your holy name.
May our souls always praise You
and forget not all your benefits—
ou who forgives all our sins
        and heals all our diseases,
who redeems our lives from the pit
and crowns us with love and compassion,
who satisfies our desires with good things
so that our youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Lord, you work righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
We pray that we would see that justice in our time,
And that we may we learn do to live righteously and justly.

You made known your ways to Moses,
Your deeds to the people of Israel:
You are Yahweh, compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger, abounding in love.
You do not always accuse,
    nor do you harbor anger forever;
You do not treat us as our sins deserve
or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
    so great is your love for those who fear you;
as far as the east is from the west,
so far have you removed our transgressions from us.

And you have made known to us your ways
    Through your Son Jesus Christ.
Who did not consider his divinity something to be lauded over us,

As a father has compassion on his children,
    so You have compassion on those who fear you;
for You knows how we are formed,
You remember that we are dust.
Our lives are like grass,
    they flourish like a flower of the field;
the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
But from everlasting to everlasting
You love, O Lord, is with those who fear you,
and you righteousness with their children’s children.

You have established your throne in heaven,
and your kingdom rules over all.

So we declare together:
Praise the Lord, you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his bidding,
    who obey his word.
Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts,
you his servants who do his will.
Praise the Lord, all his works
    everywhere in his dominion.
Praise the Lord, my soul.

Nothing But the Blood

by Robert Lowry

What can wash away my sin
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

For my pardon this I see
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
For my cleansing this my plea
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

    Oh precious is the flow,
that makes me white as snow
    No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Nothing can for sin atone
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Not of good that I have done
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

This is all my hope and peace
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
This is all my righteousness
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Scripture | Hebrews 9:24-26(NIV)

24 For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence. 25 Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. 26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Before the Throne of God Above

Lyrics: Charitie Lees Bancroft | Tune (“Before The Throne”): Vikki Cook

Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea
A great High Priest whose name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me
My name is graven on his hands
My name is written on his heart
I know that while in heaven he stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart
No tongue can bid me thence depart

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within
Upward I look and see him there
Who made an end to all my sin
Because the sinless Saviour died
My sinful soul is counted free
For God the Just is satisfied
To look on him and pardon me
To look on him and pardon me

Behold him there the Risen Lamb
My perfect spotless righteousness
The great unchangeable I Am
The King of glory and of grace
One with himself I cannot die
My soul is purchased by his blood
My life is hid with Christ on high
With Christ my Saviour and my God
With Christ my Saviour and my God

I bow before the cross of Christ
And marvel at this love divine
God’s perfect Son was sacrificed
To make me righteous in God’s eyes
This river’s depths I cannot know
But I can glory in its flood
The Lord Most High has bowed down low
And poured on me his glorious love
And poured on me his glorious love

Benediction
