In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song
This cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My comforter, my all in all
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save

The wrath of God was satisfied

Prayers of the People and Scripture Reading |Ephesians 3:14-21 (NIV)

14 For this reason [we] kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.
Lord we thank you for the power of your gospel to unite us. Make us instruments of your peace and reconciliation. From our global conflicts to our personal strife, create peace in us and among us through your gospel of peace.

16 [We] pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen [us] with power through his Spirit in [our] inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in [our] hearts through faith.
Lord we pray that we might be known as a community where Christ dwells. Ready our hearts now to receive Christ by faith. Strengthen us with power through your Spirit to live out your call on each of our lives. Together, help us demonstrate your manifold wisdom to the powers of the age by the diversity of the families and cultures among us.

18 [Being rooted and established in love together with all the Lord’s holy people, we] pray for the power to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that [we] may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
Lord, show us the maturity and fulness of life that is our birthright as your people. Give us power to grasp your love and the humility to receive your love together with all your people. Cover the width and length and height and depths of our sins and hurts, by the still greater dimensions of your love.

20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
Lord, increase the powers of our imagination according to the power of your resurrection so that we might pray more boldly, live more faithfully, and act more justly as witnesses of your new creation.

21 To him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
God, be glorified this day and always - in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Should nothing of our efforts stand
No legacy survive?
Unless the Lord does raise the house
In vain its builders strive
To you who boast tomorrow’s gain

A mist that vanishes at dawn
All glory be to Christ!
