Beth Stovell
Dr. Beth M. Stovell is Professor of Old Testament and Chair of General Theological Studies at Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta. Beth loves exploring biblical metaphors and poetry. Her published books reflect this. Mapping Metaphorical Discourse in the Fourth Gospel (Brill) explores Jesus's kingship. Making Sense of Motherhood: Biblical and Theological Perspectives (Wipf and Stock) explores biblical and theological motherhood imagery. Theodicy and Hope in the Book of the Twelve (T&T Clark, co-edited with George Athas, Daniel Timmer, and Colin Toffelmire) explores imagery of suffering and hope in the Minor Prophets. She is currently writing a book on biblical poetry and commentaries on John's Gospel, the Minor Prophets, and Ezekiel. Beth has been working in ministry contexts for over twenty years and works alongside her husband, Jon Stovell, on the national team for her denomination, Vineyard Canada. They have two kids, Elena and Atticus.
