Alex Fogleman

DE Instructor
BS (North Carolina State University), MDiv (Regent College), PhD (Baylor University)
Alex Fogleman is the foundering director of the Institute for the Renewal of Christian Catechesis. He holds a PhD in Patristics and Historical Theology from Baylor University, where he wrote on the development of catechesis in the early Church with Dr. D.H. Williams. Prior to Baylor, he studied historical theology with Dr. Hans Boersma at Regent College, graduating with the MDiv degree in 2016. During his time at Regent, Alex was inspired by the need for a recovery of catechesis by the now late Dr. J. I. Packer—a self-described “latter-day catechist” and fervent champion of catechesis.

Alex has published academic articles on the history of catechesis and patristic theology in journals such as The International Journal of Systematic Theology, Harvard Theological Review, Journal of Early Christian Studies, Augustinian Studies, among others. His popular writing on catechesis and related topics has appeared in Anglican Compass, Comment, Covenant, and Church Life Journal. He also serves as the Research Project Manager for the Global Flourishing Study at Baylor University’s Institute for Studies of Religion and as an adjunct professor at Trinity School for Ministry and Regent College.

Alex is married to Molly and they have four sons. Originally from the Carolinas, they live in Waco, TX, where they are active members of Christ Church Waco, a part of the Anglican Church of North America.
