Call to Worship

Come, let us worship the Father from whom from every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.
We confess one Lord, one faith, and one baptism.
We who are made up of “I”s, “you”s, “us”s, and “them”s, rejoice in
the work of God who makes us into an “us” that can worship together.
Then the nations will say “The Lord has done great things for them”.
And we will respond, “The Lord has done great things for us.”
Come, let us lift up our joys and sorrows to the Lord together.

Lord of All the Nations

Lyrics: David Montgomery (Regent Alumnus) | Music: “Sally Gardens” traditional Irish melody

O Lord of all the nations you’ve brought us to this place
You’ve granted us each other as symbols of your grace
Like those who walked in darkness we’ve seen the rising sun
A pilgrim path pursuing a holy quest begun

You purify our passions you loose the ties that bind
You soften stony spirits you lighten troubled minds
You enter our emotions untangle webs of pain
You touch us with your finger and we are whole again

Lord be our friend and mentor whatever lies ahead
Your love is our refreshment your will our daily bread
Until we taste your glory until we are made new
Within each one engender an appetite for You

O all-consuming fire come melt these hearts of stone
Lord wrestle with our spirits until You reign alone
Disperse us through the nations transforming grace to tell
And let this brief sojourning become our Peniel

“So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, ‘It is because I saw God
face to face, and yet my life was spared." Gen. 32:30

Vocal Quartet - It Is Well with My Soul

Music by Philip Paul Bliss and Lyrics by Horatio Spafford

...
And Lord haste the day
When the faith shall be sight
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll
The trump shall resound
And the Lord shall descend
Even so it is well
With my soul

It is well (It is well)
With my soul (With my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul

Prayers of the People

Scripture | Psalm 126 (NRSV)

1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 “The Lord has done great things for us,
and we rejoiced.
4 Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
like the watercourses in the Negeb.
5 May those who sow in tears
reap with shouts of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
carrying their sheaves.

Psalm 126 (Although We Are Weeping)

© 2012 Isaac Wardell

Our mouths they were filled
Filled with laughter
Our tongues they were loosed
Loosed with joy
Restore us O Lord
Restore us O Lord

    Although we are weeping
    Lord help us keep sowing
    The seeds of Your Kingdom
For the day You will reap them
    Your sheaves we will carry
    Lord please do not tarry
    All those who sow weeping
Will go out with songs of joy

The nations will say,
"He has done great things!"
The nations will sing
songs of joy
Restore us O Lord
Restore us O Lord
