Call to Worship

ONE: The heavens and earth rejoice! The rays of light of Christ's resurrection illuminate the entire cosmos!
ALL: O great and most holy Easter, Christ; Grant that we may partake of Thee fully in the unfading day of Thy Kingdom!
ONE: He appears to us this morning just as He appeared to the apostles before the Ascension.
ALL: Easter fills us with the Holy Spirit, who is the joy of love. Earthly colors fade in the shining of the white Paschal light!
ONE: In the Paschal love we come to know God's love, which surpasses all understanding. In this light there is no place for darkness or shadow.
ALL: In this light, injuries done to us fade, our unkind feelings disappear, and our hearts open up to the exultant joy of his love as we gather to worship.
ONE: Our hearts burn with the joy of love in the same way that the joy of love burned in the hearts of the two disciples when they saw and heard him walking together with them on the way to Emmaus.
ALL: And in the same way He is with us even now; We see this not with our eyes but with our hearts. Amen.

Jesus,
Many of us have come to a place that feels like an end.
Yet we have arrived at a season of new beginnings.
We reflect on a year filled with countless moments of joy and pain, doubt and hope.
We stand in awe and wonder at how you have been present with us through it all.
You invite us to take a posture of humility.
We kneel before the One who is the hope and light of the world.
The One from whom all glory, power, and love flows.
Love that knows no bounds and is deeper and wider than all things
We pray to be filled once again with your love and strength.
So we may go out from this place embodying your love.
With you walking beside us down the path ahead.

Jesus,
You invite us into a space of being instead of doing.
Because in the end,
Sitting at your feet is where we truly know you and we are known.
And as we wait and rest with resurrection hope for the future.
You remind us daily.
You will do what you have promised.
You will restore and renew all things.
Until then,
We kneel before you Jesus and we sit at your feet, knowing it is here we are filled and find true love and belonging.

Scripture | Ephesians 3:14-21 (NIV)

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
