Into Africa: Exploring Theology & Ministry in Nairobi, Kenya
Course Description
With the dramatic shift in the center of world Christianity from the West to the Majority World, Africa is now a vital center of global Christianity. This course will explore aspects of African Christianity, both intellectually and experientially, through intensive exposure to theology and ministry in Nairobi, Kenya.
Key questions for exploration include the following: How do we interpret the phenomenal growth of African Christianity over the past century? What is actually happening on the ground, and how do African Christians live out the gospel in the academy, the Church, and the world? What is African theology -- key trends and leading proponents? And what significance does African Christianity have in the global Church and in the ongoing development of Christian tradition worldwide? The overall purpose of the course is for students to gain knowledge and experience of contemporary African Christianity through personal and critical engagement with it in one particular context.
