People in the West have many questions about the future of Chinese Christianity. Many are concerned that in some places in China, crosses have been removed from church spires. Many also worry as leaders of the house church and institutional church are arrested. What broader realities do these happenings reflect?

Prof. Ng will present recent developments in Chinese political and economic culture in order that we might better understand recent developments in the Chinese church. With the historical context established, we will consider what developments in Chinese theology could enable us to be ambassadors of harmony for the gospel of Christ in the changing context of globalization.

Prof. Dr. Dennis T.W. Ng is a Chinese theologian who works as Senior Fellow at Andrew Walls Centre for the Study of African and Asian Christianity at Liverpool Hope University. He is a prolific author who has published 17 books. His latest work is Theology of Harmony: In Search of the Roots and Development of Chinese Theology, (Hong Kong: Joint Publishing Company, Jan 2018). Prof. Ng is also the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Harmony and Humanity and President of the Institute of International Harmony and Sustainable Development.
