Catechesis for a Secular Age: The Wisdom of 1 Peter

Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 7:30PM - 9:00 PM
Epl-2018-480

Assuming we live in a secular age, could it be that 1 Peter is a New Testament Epistle with a timely message “for such a time as this”?   We will consider how the wisdom of this book can give direction to the content and contours of disciple-making for Christian communities that foster spiritual maturity for the church that is thoroughly present in and to its social context.

Gordon T. Smith is the President of Ambrose University in Calgary, Alberta as of August 2012. He continues to teach courses at Regent College topics such as spiritual practices, conversion, and discernment. He previously served as the Academic Dean at Regent. He is an ordained minister with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. His recent publications include Institutional Intelligence: How to Build an Effective Organization (IVP Academic, 2017), and Evangelical, Sacramental, and Pentecostal: Why the Church Should be All Three (IVP Academic, 2017). He is married to Joella and together they have two grown sons.
