Intermediate Old Testament Hebrew II
LANG 610
Course Description
This course is designed to equip students to read the majority of the Old Testament in its predominate original language. It aims to consolidate the grammar acquired in Introductory Hebrew. Students will translate from various genres within the Hebrew Bible by developing an intermediate proficiency in Classical Biblical Hebrew grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. The slow process of learning to translate the First Testament within an interpretive community engenders much more than direct access to the text; for it demands discipline, increases awareness of interpretive decisions, deepens understanding of the nature of the Bible, and cultivates a practice of meditating in a new way upon the word of God.
