Working on Campus
Student Employee (SE) Positions
Student Employee (SE) positions are support positions in the teams at the College—such as the library, the Dean of Students, bookstore, student services, advancement, and alumni. Student employees are paid on an hourly basis. These positions are posted throughout the year, as they become available. All Government of Canada employment regulations apply. The number of SE positions available each year varies, and average around 10 to 15 hours of work per week.
Teaching Assistant (TA) Positions
Teaching Assistants help Regent faculty with various course-related tasks such as grading, research, tutorial preparation, and scanning. Teaching assistants are paid on an hourly basis for work done. TA positions are available for Spring/Summer term and Fall/Winter terms. All Government of Canada employment regulations apply. The number of TA positions available each year varies, and average around 10 to 15 hours of work per week.

Working as an International Student
International students who are studying full time and have a valid study permit can work for up to 24 hours per week during the academic term (and full-time during school breaks). They can work either on- or off-campus. See Working with a Study Permit for details.
Getting a Social Insurance Number (SIN)
You need a Social Insurance Number (SIN) from Service Canada to work in Canada or to receive benefits and services from government programs. See our Working in Canada page for details.
Spouses of International Students
Spouses of full-time international students may accept part- or full-time employment either on or off campus. They must obtain a work permit prior to commencing the work.
Alumni Job Board
Once you graduate, you have access to our online alumni job board. This job board is of immense benefit. There are employers who will only post jobs with us, because they value what Regent alumni bring to their organization.
