Body and Identity: Recovering Our Selves
The Houston Centre for Humanity and the Common Good invites you to “Body and Identity: Recovering Our Selves,” a free public lecture on Thursday, March 5, 6:30–8:30 pm. A reception will be held before the lecture at 5:30 pm—email [email protected] to RSVP.
About the Event
Theologian Angela Franks, author of Body and Identity: A History of the Empty Self (Notre Dame Press, 2025), analyzes contemporary ideals of human identity. She asserts that the modern, narcissistic self is empty, not full. In this lecture, she traces the development of this phenomenon, including changing views of the body, and suggests how we might develop a more robust sense of who we are.
Location: Regent College Chapel (5800 University Blvd, Vancouver, BC)
Parking: Regent College no longer has its own parking lot. Paid parking options are available nearby with metered parking on Western Parkway, among other locations, and covered pay parking at the Thunderbird Parkade. See the UBC Parking website for more info.
