Back to Beauty's Giver: The Poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins
Please join us in Room 100 on January 6, from 7-9 pm, for an evening focused on the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins, acknowledged today as one of the greatest poets of the English language. Hopkins’s poetry is both a challenging and inspiring wellspring of thought that explores the often-neglected centrality of Christ in creation, helping us to see and appreciate the “pied beauty” of a world “charged with the grandeur of God.” A selection of Hopkins's poems will be performed by British actor Richard Austin, who is widely celebrated as the premier living performer of Hopkins's poetry. Austin's readings will be complemented by comments from Dr. Loren Wilkinson, on the importance of Hopkins to his thinking in his recent book Circles and the Cross
Time: January 6, 7-9 pm
Location: Room 100
Speakers: Richard Austin and Loren Wilkinson
