Program Requirements
In order to graduate from the program, you must complete 24 credits with a GPA of 3.3 (B+) or better.
Depending on your objectives, you can choose a thesis track or a major paper track with additional electives. Your thesis or major paper will be completed in your area of concentration. The requirements are as follows.

* The major paper will involve a 7,500–10,000 word essay and will be supervised by a full-time faculty member in the appropriate discipline.
Concentration Requirements
Regent College includes a number of areas of concentration within the ThM (see the full list below). Your previous graduate theological studies should include courses related to your chosen concentration to ensure you are prepared for advanced study.
Note: The Biblical Languages, Old Testament, and New Testament concentrations require language courses in addition to the 6 credit hours of advanced coursework in your concentration. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Faculty Supervision
As a ThM student, you will work closely with a supervisor from Regent's faculty whose expertise aligns with your area of concentration. While all topics related to theology will be considered for ThM theses, Regent’s current faculty are particularly interested and equipped to supervise in particular areas. Admission Requirements
Our ThM program is an advanced academic degree that requires deep and focused theological engagement. It is intended for students who have already earned a master’s degree in biblical studies or theology, and want to focus their studies on a specific biblical or theological topic. In order to be admitted to the ThM, you must meet the following admission requirements:
- A master’s degree in theological or biblical studies with a minimum 60 credit hours.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 GPA scale for the ThM thesis track, or 3.3 on a 4.0 GPA scale for the ThM major paper track.
- Foundational courses in biblical studies, theology, and history of Christianity.
- A minimum of 6 credit hours of advanced coursework in your chosen concentration. Applicants without the necessary academic background in their chosen concentration may be required to complete additional courses as prerequisites or co-requisites
