Spiritual Practice
Course Description
We need to articulate a vison for human flourishing that can then inform intentional spiritual practice in the life of the Christian believer and the life of the church, along with the interplay of the two (the intersection of personal spiritual disciplines and those of the faith community). The theological assumption that undergirds the course is that God calls people into a union with Christ that is effected in the life of the Christian and the life of the church by the gracious initiative of the Spirit. “Spiritual practice” is about intentionality in the pursuit of the holiness that is the gift of the Spirit in the life of the Christian and the life of the church. The course lectures will stress that the Christian is not a self-constructed entity, and that the church is not constituted by strategic planning, but rather that the individual Christian and the church are animated and sustained by union with Christ and the fullness of the Spirit. But all of this will be framed within a Christian vision for human flourishing. This course is offered onsite only, with no online option.
