Handling Conflict
Course Description
Every leader and aspiring leader needs to be able to handle conflict effectively. Of course, that may be easier said than done. In this course, we’ll consider various strategies for anticipating, approaching, and working through conflict. In a time when rapid communication facilitates the escalation of conflicts that can easily spin out of control, it is more important than ever for leaders and their teams to think through how they will handle conflict before it actually happens. This course will help participants do just that. Drawing on case studies from Scripture and the experiences of Christian leaders in a variety of different contexts, we’ll explore what has worked well—or less well—in conflicts that others have experienced.
As we consider how best to approach potential areas of conflict, participants in this course will learn how to better anticipate their own reactions. Moving away from a view of conflict as necessarily bad, we’ll see how conflict that is addressed effectively can lead to clearer thinking and planning, and even to fresh resolve. Students will come away equipped with various strategies for approaching and handling conflict far into the future.
