New Testament Foundations
Course Description
This course will lead students in an exploration of the literature of the New Testament, aiming to provide a strong foundation for engaged reading, further study, and application to life and church. Our primary focus will be the message and content of each book within its particular historical-cultural setting, with attention given to its contribution to the theology of the New Testament as a whole. The course seeks to offer a model for how to read the New Testament wisely, offering a multifaceted paradigm for reading/hearing this literature that includes a sensitivity to the text as art that reflects a worldview and a commitment to reading contextually (considering literary, cultural, historical, and intertextual contexts), theologically, integratively, and missionally.| Offered | 2026 Summer |

Mariam Kamell Kovalishyn
Associate Professor of New Testament
Mariam Kamell Kovalishyn joined the faculty at Regent College in 2010. The majority of her research has centered on the epistle of James, Jewish literature of the intertestamental period, and classical Greco-Roman literature. Since coming to Regent, she has expanded to researching and writing across the Pauline and General Epistles.
