Apply for Financial Aid

Regent’s financial aid awards are granted on a first come, first served basis. Students admitted to a Regent program can apply for financial aid through their REGIS account starting in mid-January each year, so get a head start by submitting your application early!
Note: You must be admitted to a Regent program before your Financial Aid Application can be processed. Submitting your application for admission to a program (along with related documents) by December 31 will give you the best chance of receiving the full range of financial aid for which you are qualified.

Who Should Apply
You should! If you’re planning to work toward a degree or diploma and you’d benefit from tuition assistance, it’s worth submitting an application. In recent years, we’ve been able to give financial aid to around two-thirds of applicants! Once you submit a Financial Aid Application, you’ll find out how much aid you can expect for the duration of your program. This helps take the guesswork out of planning for a multi-year degree.
Note: You must be admitted to a graduate program at Regent College to be eligible for financial aid. You are welcome to submit your Financial Aid Application while your application for admission is in process, but it will not be processed until you are admitted to the College without any conditions. You can find more details on eligibility under Financial Aid Policies.
In addition to new incoming students, the following groups are welcome to apply for financial aid:
- current students who began their program without applying for financial aid,
- current or prospective students who applied for financial aid unsuccessfully in the past.
Students who have applied unsuccessfully in the past may qualify for financial aid at a later date, especially if their financial circumstances have changed. Applying earlier in the financial aid cycle (i.e., as soon as possible after Financial Aid Applications open) may also be helpful.
When to Apply
As soon as possible—beginning in mid-January! The Financial Aid Application form is made available on REGIS (the College’s online registration system) in January each year.
Financial Aid Applications are reviewed and awards made on a first-come, first-served basis and there is a finite amount of funding available each year. Submitting your Financial Aid Application as soon as possible after the application opens will help you receive all the assistance you qualify for.
Note: Prospective students must submit an application for admission to a program before applying for financial aid. We recommend submitting your application and all supporting documents prior to January 1 if you intend to apply for financial aid. Students who apply for financial aid while their application for admission is still in process will secure a place in the applicant queue. Please be aware, however, that your financial aid application will not be evaluated until you are admitted to the College.
Students Starting in Winter Term
Regent’s financial aid application opens in January for all admitted students, regardless of whether they plan to start in the Fall or Winter term. If you're planning to start in the Winter you'll be eligible for aid as usual—you'll just need to plan a little further ahead.
Students who plan to begin their studies in a Winter term should apply for financial aid the January before they plan to begin (about a year ahead of time).
How to Apply
Fill out the online Financial Aid Application, available via your REGIS account. You’ll be able to access this form once you’ve submitted an application for admission to a Regent program and received your REGIS login information.
The form is quick and simple. Submit, and you're good to go!
What You'll Need
You’ll be asked to give us some information about yourself, including:
- Planned program and areas of study
- Financial resources available during your program (see details below)
- Employment history
- Experience in certain vocational and ministry areas
- Future vocational interests
Estimating Financial Resources
The Financial Aid Application will ask you to specify the total amount of money you anticipate being able to access over the course of your program, taking into account:
- Existing assets
- Student loans
- Employment income
- External funding (gifts, personal loans, outside bursaries, etc.)
- Your spouse's income during your program
- Any other sources of income
An honest and realistic assessment of your financial resources will help the financial aid team evaluate how they can help you meet your educational goals.
Application Results
While processing times may vary, most financial aid applicants can expect to find out their results within about six weeks. (Please note that while applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received, the review process will not start until the beginning of February.)
If your application is successful, your financial aid award will consist of an annual amount. As long as you continue to meet all eligibility criteria, you will continue to receive this amount on an annual basis, up to the maximum number of years allowed for your program.
If your application is unsuccessful, you will be welcome to apply again for the following academic year. You’re also encouraged to consider student loans and other sources of funding, such as external scholarships and part-time employment.
