Admission Requirements

Are you ready to begin a program of study? Below, you'll find a summary of requirements to enroll in a degree or diploma program at Regent College.

Requirements by Program

To apply for a degree or diploma program at Regent College, you need to be able to demonstrate that your background and experiences have prepared you to succeed in graduate-level studies.

Note: If you don't have an accredited bachelor's degree but are interested in pursuing a program at Regent, please see the Mature & Non-Accredited Degree Students section below.

GradDipCS, MACS, MATS & MDiv Admission Requirements

If you're applying to Regent's Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies (GradDipCS), Master of Arts in Christian Studies (MACS), Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS), or Master of Divinity (MDiv) program, you must have:

  • an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution, and
  • a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.8 on a scale of 4.0 (or equivalent).

MALTS Admission Requirements

If you're applying to Regent's Master of Arts in Leadership, Theology & Society program, you must have:

  • an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution,

Once the test is written, it can take up to six weeks for the results to be sent to Regent.

Scores are valid for a maximum of two years.

Mature & Non-Accredited Degree Students

The normal prerequisite for study is an accredited bachelor's degree. We are aware, however, that some students who don't meet this prerequisite do have the interest and ability to study at the graduate level. If this is the case, we encourage you to apply as a Mature Student or a Non-Accredited Degree Student.

Requirements for Mature Students

If you have not obtained a bachelor's degree but are at least 28 years of age, we encourage you to apply as a mature student. You will need to:

  • specify in your application as to how your life/work/ministry/educational experience can be seen as equivalent to a university education; and
  • submit a book review on an English-language book selected from the Book Review Reading List.

Requirements for Non-Accredited Degree Students

If you meet the degree and grade requirements listed above but your degree is from a non-accredited school, you will need to submit a sample research paper as part of your application.

Unclassified Students

If you wish to study at Regent College but do not want to enroll in a degree program, you can take up to 12 credit hours as an Unclassified Student. Just follow the instructions on our Registration page to get started.

If you wish to continue your studies beyond 12 credit hours, you will need to apply to a program. Note that students admitted to a program are given priority in classes where space is limited.

If you're coming from outside of Canada as an Unclassified Student and you plan to study for less than six months, you may not require a study permit. Contact your Admissions Counsellor for details.

Categories of Admission

Unconditional Admission: All of your application documents have been received and you have been admitted to your program without any conditions. Congratulations!

Conditional Admission: Under special circumstances, you may be admitted conditionally while certain official documents are still outstanding. Once we receive the outstanding documents and evaluate them to be satisfactory, we will remove the conditions on your admission. If we do not receive the outstanding documents within one year of your start term, you will not be able to continue your studies.

Probationary Admission: Applicants who do not meet our academic requirements may, under exceptional circumstances, be granted admission on probation. Probationary admission limits you to a maximum of 9 credits in your first term, and you must take the non-credit Academic Writing course (GENR 311). If you complete your first 9 credits with a minimum B average (3.0 GPA), you will be taken off probation. If you do not earn the required GPA in your first 9 credits, you will not be able to continue your studies.
