Lunchtime Lecture: The Making of a Scientific Theologian

Thursday, Sep 20, 2018 at 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (Pacific Time)

This event has now ended. Please view this page to see all our upcoming events.

What does the interface of theology and science look like in the course of a human life? And how can such an academic pursuit coincide with the vocation of a Christian minister?

In this lunchtime lecture, Professor McGrath will lead us in reflecting on the personal dimensions of doing “scientific theology,” with reference to the Scottish theologian Thomas F. Torrance. Torrance carried out a vigorous engagement between Trinitarian theology and the natural sciences, while also following the call to church leadership with an ecumenical and international scope. McGrath is an expert guide to his legacy, having written the definitive intellectual biography as well as his own multi-volume A Scientific Theology, which opens with a dedication to Torrance.

There will be a Q & A following the lecture.

Regent College is also hosting two evening lectures with Dr. Alister McGrath on September 18 & 19 as part of our Fall 2018 Interface Faith and Science Lecture Series.
