HIST 531

The Cost of Forgetting Church History for Women

Course Description

From the ancient through modern world, women have preached, taught, and led. Yet, for most modern Christians, knowledge of these women—as well as the historical context in which they served the church—has been forgotten. This course explores not only forgotten women in Christian history but also the consequences of our historical amnesia for women and men both inside and outside of the church.

The friendships and relationships I’ve made during my time at Regent have opened my eyes to how immensely rich, diverse, and massive the body of Christ is. When I hear the stories of many of my classmates, I see Jesus’s immense provision and grace for the church.” — Alexander Marees
