Law & the Bible

Jul 12–Jul 16 8:30AM–11:30AM
BIBL 522 1–2 Credits (1 Audit)

Course Description

One of the most controversial genres of the Old Testament is found in the legal provisions and accompanying narratives known as the Torah. Controversies swirl about how this material is treated in the New Testament, how it is relevant to Christians, and what role it should play in some of the social issues of today as supporters from multiple perspectives claim to represent a biblical position. Analyze the material found in the ancient Near East, use it to undertake a careful study of the biblical texts, and consider its ramifications for theology, practice, and Scriptural interpretation.
